The Grimaldi Memorial Service 2011
Every year on the the first weekend in February, clowns from far and wide, attend a memorial service for the celebrated clown Joseph Grimaldi at Trinity Church, Dalston, London. I’ve been fascinated by Grimaldi since my first flat in Exmouth Market, London, was opposite to a property that Grimaldi had once lived in, some 200 years ago. I decided to go this year and get some images and took the family along. The whole service was delightful and we all enjoyed it, especially my son who loved seeing all the clowns. The service was even attended by the Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow MP and his wife Sally, who was pictured in an infamous photo this week.
Here are some of my images of the day and they were all taken on a Nikon D3S in low light.
